  • Description

Moxifloxacin is a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic that inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination. By targeting these enzymes, moxifloxacin disrupts the supercoiling and separation of bacterial DNA strands, thereby preventing bacterial cell division and leading to cell death. This bactericidal action is effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, as well as atypical pathogens. The enhanced activity of moxifloxacin against certain anaerobic bacteria and its high tissue penetration make it particularly useful in treating respiratory, skin, and intra-abdominal infections.

  • Uses

Following are the precautions and warnings for SPF 50 Sunblock:

    • Should not be used in individuals with a known allergy to any of the components of the sunscreen, including active ingredients like avobenzone, octinoxate, or oxybenzone.
    • Caution is advised when using in patients with a history of skin sensitivities or allergies to sunscreen products.
    • Avoid applying to broken, irritated, or sunburned skin, as this may increase irritation or discomfort.
    • Do not apply near the eyes or mucous membranes; if accidental contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water.
    • Reapply sunscreen every two hours or after swimming, sweating, or towel drying to maintain protection.
    • Avoid excessive sun exposure, even with sunscreen, and wear protective clothing, hats, and sunglasses when outdoors for prolonged periods.
    • If any irritation, rash, or allergic reaction occurs after application, discontinue use and consult a healthcare provider.
    • Consult a healthcare provider before using if you have any pre-existing skin conditions, such as eczema or rosacea.
  • In case of Overdose

In case of an overdose of Moxifloxacin Tablet, it is essential to seek immediate medical attention. Overdosing may increase the risk of adverse effects such as nausea, dizziness, confusion, and gastrointestinal disturbances. There is no specific antidote for Moxifloxacin overdose, so treatment focuses on managing symptoms. Activated charcoal may be administered to reduce the absorption of the drug if the overdose is recent, typically within an hour of ingestion. Supportive care, including monitoring of vital signs, fluid management, and treatment of any symptoms, may be required. In severe cases, medical professionals may perform gastric lavage or other procedures to manage the overdose. It is important not to self-manage an overdose and to contact a healthcare provider or poison control center for appropriate guidance.

  • Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of Moxifloxacin Tablet, take it as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. In that case, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take two doses at once to make up for the missed dose, as this may increase the risk of side effects. If you are unsure about what to do or if you miss multiple doses, it is advisable to contact your healthcare provider for guidance. Maintaining a consistent dosing schedule is important to ensure the effectiveness of the medication and to avoid any complications.

  • How To Use

To use Moxifloxacin Tablet, follow the instructions provided by your healthcare provider or as indicated on the prescription label. Typically, it should be taken once daily, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not chew, crush, or break the tablet. It's important to take the medication at the same time each day to help you remember and maintain consistent levels in your body. Ensure you complete the full prescribed course of treatment, even if you start feeling better before finishing the medication, to prevent the infection from returning or developing resistance. If you have any questions about how to take this medicine, consult your healthcare provider.

  • When Not to Use
