  • Description

Cefuroxime injection, a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic, exerts its antibacterial effect by inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall. It achieves this through the binding of its beta-lactam moiety to specific penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) located within the bacterial cell wall. This binding interferes with the transpeptidation reaction, which is crucial for cross-linking peptidoglycan strands, ultimately leading to the weakening and lysis of the bacterial cell wall. Cefuroxime has a broad spectrum of activity, encompassing many Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including Streptococcus, Staphylococcus, and various Enterobacteriaceae species. The mechanism of action of cefuroxime is specific to the bacterial cell wall synthesis process, making it effective against susceptible organisms while minimizing effects on human cells, which lack a similar cell wall structure.

Always check the expiration date before use, and do not use the injection if it has expired. When it comes to disposal, do not throw away unused or expired Cefuroxime Injection in regular household trash or flush it down the toilet.
